The Purchasing Department is a member of the administrative team of Denton County. The Director of Purchasing is employed by the Denton County Commissioners Court and protects the interest of the Denton County taxpayers. The County Director of Purchasing is responsible for ensuring fair and equitable treatment to all suppliers without regard to political pressure.
The Director of Purchasing of Denton County is charged with the responsibility of purchasing all supplies, materials, and equipment required or used, and contracts for all repairs to property used by the county and supervises all purchases made on competitive bid.
The Director of Purchasing maintains surplus inventory and disposes of all excess, obsolete or unserviceable equipment through bid sales or auctions as provided by law.

Statement of Purpose
- To provide the best service possible to all county departments in a fair and equitable manner.
- To ensure an atmosphere of equality to all suppliers without regard to undue influence or political pressures.
- To protect the interests of the Denton County tax payers in all expenditures.
Denton County advertises all Invitations to Bid and Request for Proposals in the Denton Record-Chronicle typically on Sunday of each week. The total value of each bid is estimated at $50,000 or more.
The Denton County Purchasing Department is open Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. and is located at 401 W. Hickory, Suite 324, Denton, Texas 76201.
Bids are opened in an open forum at 401 W. Hickory, Suite 324, Denton, Texas, at the time stated in the bid specifications. Suppliers are welcome (but not required) to attend Bid Openings.
Contracts resulting from bid solicitations are awarded by Commissioners Court during the regularly scheduled Tuesday meetings.
Debriefings are for review of the evaluation of the requesting firm’s proposal after all decisions are final. Denton County will be glad to schedule a debriefing with any firm who requests such within two weeks after Commissioners Court has awarded a contract (or approved ranking of pre-qualified firms). However, we ask that your firm request and review the evaluation documents prior to scheduling a formal debriefing with the designated Buyer.

Certification of Eligibility
By submitting a response to a solicitation, the Respondent certifies that at the time of submission, they are not on the Federal Government's list of suspended, ineligible, or debarred entities.
In the event of placement on the list between the time of proposal submission and time of award, the Respondent will notify the Denton County Director of Purchasing. Failure to do so may result in terminating the contract for default.
RELATING TO STATE CONTRACT WITH AND INVESTMENTS IN COMPANIES THAT BOYCOTT ISRAEL AND INVESTMENTS IN COMPANIES THAT DO BUSINESS WITH IRAN, SUDAN, OR ANY KNOWN FOREIGN TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS
Effective September 1, 2017, Contractor/Vendor must verify that it/he/she does not boycott Israel and will not boycott Israel during the term of any contract. The term "boycott Israel" is defined by Texas Government Code Section 808.001. Contractor/Vendor further must verify that it/he/she is not engaged in business with Iran, Sudan, or any foreign terrorist organization. The term "foreign terrorist organization: means an organization designated as a foreign terrorist organization by the United States Secretary of State as authorized by 8 U.S.C Section 1189.
Disclosure of Interested Parties
By submitting a response to a solicitation, the Respondent agrees to comply with HB1295, Government Code 2252.908. Respondent agrees to provide Denton County Director of Purchasing, and/or requesting department, the "Certificate of Interested Parties," Form 1295 as required, within ten (10) business days from notification of pending award, renewal, amended or extended contract.
