Requesting a copy of your Birth Certificate for your passport application?
The Denton County Clerk can only guarantee copies for births that occurred within Denton County. In order to avoid delays, it is recommended to those born outside of Denton County to obtain a copy from your county of birth, prior to applying for your passport.
Birth records are not public records and information cannot be verified via phone. For questions, please call (940) 349-2018.
Passport applications are accepted at six (6) County Clerk locations Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:15 PM. Since the County Clerk’s office offers a walk-in passport service (no appointments needed), a firm cutoff time of 4:15 PM* is necessary. Please see more information about specific locations below.
*Due to the unusually large volume of Passport customers at all locations, a cut off time earlier than 4:15 PM is sometimes necessary when wait times exceed hours of operation. We apologize for this inconvenience and recommend arriving as early as possible to avoid delays.
