People ages 60 and older, which meet project guidelines, work as volunteers with two residents/children each weekday for an average of four or five hours a day or five days a week (Monday through Thursday or Friday) for a average of twenty hours per week.  There may be opportunity for a maximum of forty hours per week if the volunteer is interested and the station has the funds available. The volunteers receive a stipend of $2.65 per hour (tax-free and does not count against any other benefit received, such as Social Security, Pension, Housing Assistance, Food Stamps, etc.) to help offset the cost of volunteering, one meal a day, a paid vacation day monthly, a paid sick day monthly and an average of one paid holiday per month.  Annual physical examination, training, and assistance with transportation if needed. Opportunities for service include the following Stations: Denton State School campus, day care center, preschool centers and public schools in and around Denton and Denton County. Paid while you train (orientation).
