Be it remembered, Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas was called to order on the 17th day of October, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. in Commissioners Courtroom, 2nd Floor, Courthouse on the Square, Denton, Texas by Denton County Judge Mary Horn. Commissioners Cynthia White, Bobbie Mitchell and Jim Carter were present, along with County Clerk Cynthia Mitchell’s representative, Deputy Clerk, Erin McCorkle.

Court opened with an Invocation by Jim Heath, followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American and Texas Flags led by Olive Stephens, Mayor of Shady Shores.

Mr. Heath: Bow your head, please. Our Heavenly Father, thank You for this day. Thank You for this country, for this Court. Please be with them as they do our business for the Court today. And, Father, we would ask You to be with all of our service people throughout the world as they stand in harm's way, and particularly with the family of our young man from Denton County, the second one to be killed in Iraq, to be with them today. In Thy name we pray. Amen.
