Be it remembered, Commissioners Court of Denton County, Texas was called to order on the 13th day of June, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. in Commissioners Courtroom, 2nd Floor, Courthouse on the Square, Denton, Texas by Denton County Judge Mary Horn. Commissioners Sandy Jacobs, Bobbie Mitchell and Jim Carter were present, along with County Clerk Cynthia Mitchell’s representative, Deputy Clerk, Kathleen Bransford.
Court opened with an Invocation by James Wells, Auditor, followed by the Pledges of Allegiance to the American and Texas Flags led by Scott Arledge, Assistant Director of Purchasing.
Mr. Wells: Will you pray with me? Our Dear Heavenly Father, we come today giving thanks to You that You're not an idol of an image that we can see, and be close to, but not access, and that You are a living God that can respond to us and that loves us and we thank You that You've given us access to You, that You've given us the Holy Spirit that lives within each of us and gives us the desire to communicate and to have a relationship with You.
We give You thanks also that You've given us Your son, Jesus Christ, that gives us the means to access You. Without Him, we know that You're too powerful and too mighty, that we would only be in awe of You and we'd be frightened from Your presence, but through Jesus You give us a means to have fellowship with You. We ask You to bless these proceedings. Give wisdom and guidance to our elected leaders. And we ask You to watch over each member of -- that's present today and protect us from sin and bring us back safely next time we meet. And these things we ask in Christ's name. Amen.
