The Support Services Division includes the Communications, Technical Services, Training, and Professional Standards units under Captain Brad Harmon.
The Communications Unit handles 911 and non-emergency call-taking services for the unincorporated areas of Denton County as well as the communities of: Argyle, Aubrey, Bartonville, Corinth, Double Oak, Hickory Creek, Justin, Krum, Little Elm, Northlake, Oak Point, Pilot Point, Ponder, Sanger and Trophy Club.
In addition to call-taking services, Communications also provides Police, Fire and EMS dispatching service for these communities as well as the Lake Cities Fire Department, Denton County Constables, Fire Marshals, Texas Parks and Wildlife Agents and the Texas Department of Public Safety Denton / Sanger Troopers.
Professional Standards consists of Personnel and Internal Affairs. Personnel handles responsibilities related to the onboarding and out processing of all employees within the Sheriff’s Office.
Internal Affairs is responsible for maintaining public confidence in the Sheriff’s Office through conducting administrative investigations of policy violations, critical incidents and internal/external complaints.
Technical Services consists of the Public Safety Radio and related Systems, Fleet Management and the agency’s Quartermaster. The Public Safety Radio System is made up of a state of the art Motorola P25 Phase 2 digital radio system managed and maintained by Technical Services. In addition to managing the County’s radio and microwave systems, Technical Services also provides radio programming and repair services to partner agencies within Denton County.
The Quartermaster is responsible for the acquisition, maintenance, inventory management and surplus of all Sheriff’s Office equipment and vehicles.
The Quartermaster’s duties also include the management of the Sheriff’s Department’s vehicle fleet. This fleet includes marked and un-marked police cars and trucks, boats, watercraft, ATV’s and trailers.
The Training Unit is responsible for meeting the training needs and requirements for all of the agency’s 600+ personnel. The Training Unit also maintains all training records, schedules training and travel and manages the Denton County Firearms Training Facility.
