Through the timely collection of data, the Denton County Health Department reacts to public health threats by providing disease control measures. Immunization campaigns, chemoprophylaxis, and prevention education are some of the tools used by epidemiologists to stop the spread of communicable disease.
The health status of Denton County is monitored through several different surveillance systems. DCHD participates in local, regional, national, and international epidemiological information exchange networks. But we believe that the most important surveillance system is the reports that we receive on notifiable diseases from local health care workers.
